German delegation meets PGBF and GPti members at Avari
A high level German trade delegation, headed by Foreign Office Berlin State Secretary H. E. Stephan Steinlein, Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Cyrill Nunn and Consul General of Germany in Karachi Dr. Tilo Klinner along with German businessmen met with PGBF and GPti members.
The interactive session was held in Avari Towers on June 12th 2015 to explore the business opportunities between Germany and Pakistan as the delegation also included Ms. Barbara Schumacher – Personal Assistant to Mr. Steinlein – Federal Foreign Office, Mr. Jose Schulz –Federal Foreign Office (Office of the Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan), Mr. Carl Berger – Director for Foreign Trade, Investment, Promotion and Technology Policy – Federal Foreign Office, Mr. Andre Scholz – Federal Foreign Office (Foreign Trade & Investment Promotion Division), Herr Kai Muller-Berner – Economic Office – German Embassy Islamabad along with members and decision makers of leading German companies of various sectors such as Volkswagen, Siemens LLC Power ad Gas, Green Industree and Metro AG.
The event commenced with speeches by Mr. Noordin Karim – Vice Chairman PGBF, Mr. Qazi Sajid Ali – Chairman GPti, H.E. Stephan Steinlein – State Secretary of Federal Foreign Office and Ms. Ines Chabbi – Chief Operating Officer. Question-answer session followed after speeches in which individuals and corporates received clarity about business and investment opportunities between Germany and Pakistan.
The delegation also visited Engro Corporation where they received briefing about everyday safety measures at Engro, followed by a visit to the Day Care Centre which is a unique facility for employees with children. Currently, the Day Care is taking care of 18 toddlers of one month and above. The delegation had its lunch on 16th floor of the Company. Later, the delegation enjoyed the presentation about the World’s Largest Single Train Urea Project at Daharki along with the lifestyle in that specific region, which has been established by Engro, with the idea to develop the highest degree of health, safety and environmental standards, locally. This was followed by a great presentation by Mr. Khalid Subhani – CEO, Engro Corporation about the overall work and performance of Engro Conglomerate.
The presentations were greatly appreciated by the delegation members who termed Engro’s success story a role model for others.
